Isabel J. Restrepo.jpg

Isabel Restrepo

Hello! I’m so happy you’ve made it here, welcome! My name is Isabel. I help women of color prioritize themselves through connecting with their emotional needs so they can live a life full of freedom.

You see, from a young age I’ve had the ability to feel deeply, and to see the good in things. Like a match that’s been lit, no matter how big and dark the cave it may be in, the light can always be seen. I’d love to say that this is something I understood from a young age, but the truth is it’s taken some time for me to be able to see my empathic ability as a gift and as my greatest power. My birthplace and roots are in Medellin, Colombia and at the age of seven we moved to the US and took residence in Minnesota. I grew up in a duality of worlds with mixed messages about my race, worth, value, opportunities, and what it means to be a woman.

Through all of this, I’ve come to see that a theme in my life has been the ability to build and rebuild, continuing to dig deeper and deeper into the layers of my own self. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a double major in Communication Studies and Psychology and a minor in Spanish, the 2009 recession hit. So I decided to continue my studies at New York University where I obtained my Master’s in Media, Culture, and Communication. I didn’t know that some of the biggest transformations would stem from this beautiful city known as the big apple. I worked at major companies including Banco Santander, Telemundo, and NBCUniversal. I had major successes, yet no matter how much ‘fun’ I was having with alcohol, burnout, and toxic relationships it always felt like something was missing. That’s when I bought a one way ticket to India. I was trying to search for answers outside of myself, not realizing that what I was learning were tools to be able to look deep inside. I dove into the magical wisdom of the country and received my 200hour Yoga Alliance yoga teacher certificate. I ventured into a 10 day silent Vipassana retreat. A few months later, I went back to my roots and connected with the spirit of yajé, also known as Ayahuasca. An experience that is not for the faint of heart yet allowed me to connect to ancient wisdom beyond the realms of this reality.

For the years that followed I tried to take these new tools into my “work life” leading me to move to Los Angeles and join YouTube. I tried to live a double life where I worked full time as a high achieving professional during the day and in my free time fed my heart by diving into different healing modalities. These modalities include, Transpersonal Spiritual Counseling, Human Design, getting into the body, Reiki, meditation, Craniosacral, Raindrop Technique, Tarot, shadow work, manifestation, inner child work, dynamic meditation, therapy, Elemental Magick, and the list goes on. I was ignoring that part of me that so desperately wanted to be in the depths of the heart as my work. I realized that as much as I liked to be a strong independent woman, I didn’t have to navigate these changes alone. The process of stripping away the layers of expectations I’ve put on myself and others to do it all on our own has been incredibly humbling. I’ve met the most beautiful teachers along the way that have created space for me to allow myself to fully embrace all of the parts that make me me. To truly follow my heart’s desire, allow those desires to evolve, and embrace my fire within.

As a Projector in Human Design, I am here to guide and am literally designed to deeply see and understand other people. I love to hold space for women who are committed to their growth, so they can shed the layers that have been weighing them down, light their own match within the cave, gain clarity on what human experiences their heart truly longs for, and live their life filled with freedom.

I invite you to watch the video “Connecting Through Stories” to learn more about my story.

Surviving Financial Infidelity

Each week I open the podcast reminding people that "Like wine, life and finances have different palettes that should be celebrated and not judged."  When you listen to this week's podcast, it's hard to envision any sort of "celebration" when it comes to financial infidelity, but this week's guest is on a mission to celebrate her recovery and help educate others along the way.

We refer to this guest as simply "Kelly" to protect her and her family.  This show was not easy for "Kelly," as you will hear.  She explains that financial infidelity is often subtle, it lurks in the background, UNTIL it doesn't.  Can you imagine, life is going along great, you've just had a child and are on maternity leave, then you get a knock on the door and you are served one day out of the blue?  Then over the course the next few weeks finding out that your identity has been "stolen" and you  have over $100,000 of debt in your name that you didn't know about?  Now add to that, the "theft" was your spouse.

"Kelly" reflects back on the signs leading up to the knock on the door and  provides some valuable lessons for all of us to follow.  Don't miss this survivor's journey, recovery, and preservane.

If you suspect that you might be a victim of identity theft or financial infidelity, it is critical that you move quickly.  If you haven't already, we would recommend that you pull your free credit report from www.annualcreditreport.com.  You can pull one free credit report from each of the agencies each year.

The Federal Trade Commission Consumer Information has some great resources for you to explore as well on reporting identity theft and creating a recovery plan: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/features/feature-0014-identity-theft

We know this episode is emotionally packed, but we are so thankful for "Kelly's" willingness to share her journey, in order to hopefully help others.

Making Mudpies with Susan Bartone

Welcome back Wine and Dime Listeners! I sure do have a treat for you this week. And I mean that literally. This weeks guest is the owner of Mudpies, Susan Bartone. Mudpies specializes in creating custom treats just for you. Everything they make is custom made just for you! During the episode we talk about having a business during a pandemic can be stressful, and how she had to basically shut down for a period of time. But she persevered and now is back to doing what she loves. I hope you enjoy this episode and if you want to order something from Susan, be sure to check out all the contact information below!

How mudpies began

The foundation of MudPies began years ago, before I knew it, creating pies of mud decorated with flowers from our country home. As I grew, my love for creating "mud pies" developed into things we could actually eat! Growing up with a German and Italian background -- utilizing food grown from our garden, local farms and co-ops was important to us. Soon I would bake whatever I could think of in my Holly Hobby oven (thanks mom & dad!).

As years passed I developed a deeper passion for baking, creating, decorating, eating unique things, and running! The idea of starting a business doing what I loved seemed a bit surreal, but what had I to lose? MudPies LLC began in 2012 by attending local farm markets; it has been quickly growing supplying wholesale to local businesses, and retail to treasured clientele. ~Susan

My mission

Janice Vitale.jpg

I believe there should be something for everyone. be it delightfully indulgent or delightfully healthy. Susan gladly works with clients to adapt MudPies baked goods to suit their needs.

MudPies represents a little bit of everything.

When I established MudPies, I first thought it was going to be a little bit of everything I've collected and created from my family history. As MudPies grew, I had an increasing number of requests from clients to adapt this or that. The common phrase was “I’d love that ‘item’ if it were gluten free, or vegan, or made with coconut flour, or…”

I quickly learned that there was something missing in the baking market - and I was on a mission to fill that void! Why? I have a passion for baking and feel that if I'm able to adapt baked products for someone who chooses to or has to follow a certain diet, or to create celebration foods for that special occasion, ease the stress of someone who's a good baker and ran out of time - then my mission is accomplished. I take great pride in what I do and using quality ingredients is very important to me. I will continue to expand utilizing local products when available. MudPies is essential to me not to make money, but to add joy to those around me.

I gain much happiness knowing that someone can enjoy something or look forward to a little something special to brighten their day!

Weis Vineyards

Winemaking History

Born in Zell Mosel, Germany, Winemaker Hans Peter Weis grew up in the vineyards and cellar of his family winery.  He spent many years learning and gaining experience in the traditional style of the Mosel. After receiving his degree in winemaking, business and agriculture, he decided to travel to the United States on a quest to pursue his winemaking passion. He experienced one vintage in the Sonoma region of California before he stumbled upon his home away from home in the Finger Lakes region of New York.   He found the minerality of the soil and climate similar to that of home and knew it would be the perfect place to pursue his passion of handcrafting traditional German style wines for all to enjoy!

Zum Wohl!

Retirement Plans and Options with Amy

Welcome to this edition of Wine & Dime with Amy Irvine.  As you know, every week it's my goal to talk about somebody's journey through their financial vineyard. But we're taking a little sidestep today and instead of talking to somebody we're going to be talking about something. Something along the lines of retirement accounts and the type of distributions that you can take from retirement accounts.  There's some little hidden secrets in there that I can’t wait to share.  I know this isn’t the typical Wine and Dime event where we're talking to somebody about their journey, but it might be about your journey.  Particularly, in this year.

So, sit on back, grab your favorite beverage and enjoy the show!

domaine leseurre.jpg

Sébastien and Céline Leseurre are a French husband and wife winemaking team living and working in the Finger Lakes.  When they first moved to New York, they explored the Finger Lakes by visiting and sampling grapes from the many different terroirs — geography, geology, and climate of a certain place — and soon determined this is the best place to grow beautiful grapes and craft fine wine together.

We unite our French heritage and new world wine experience to develop Finger Lakes wines which pair well with fine cuisine as well as casual fare. When people ask us what a good wine is, we love to say that it is the one you enjoy, so we hope that you will enjoy Domaine LeSeurre wines with your friends and family.

Flipping The Switch with Barbara O'Neill

Welcome back Wine and Dime listeners!  We're very excited to have Dr. Barbara O'Neill back on the show.  This time around we are going to be talking about her transition to self employment after 41 years of working at Rutgers.  The new project that she has been working on is her new book, which is coming out very soon, called “Flipping A Switch:  Your Guide to Happiness and Financial Security in Later Life”. We dive into several chapters and some very fun unique names!  You have to listen in to hear some of that!  So sit back, grab your favorite beverage and enjoy the show.  And remember “Life is about events, supported by your dollars and cents”.

flip.jpg

Leaving full-time employment to enter retirement often requires a 180-degree change in mindset and behavior from the way you managed your time and money previously. This is especially true for Baby Boomers who may have never experienced adult life without a full-time job and have been practicing the same habits since their 20s. These life transitions can be looked at as if they require flipping a switch. Some changes happen suddenly like an on/off switch, while others happen over time like a dimmer switch. Some switches are voluntary like spending accumulated savings, while some are mandatory like taking required minimum distributions starting at age 72. And to make matters more confusing, there are also lifestyle and social changes to consider as well.

Flipping a Switch discusses 35 financial, lifestyle, and social transitions you'll encounter upon entering retirement, including:

  • Full-time work to new pastimes

  • Saving money to spending money

  • Receiving a paycheck to creating a paycheck

  • Funding retirement savings plans to taking required minimum distribution withdrawals

  • Accumulating possessions to downsizing

Everyone has unique switches to flip. Flipping a Switch: Your Guide to Happiness and Financial Security in Later Life offers important information and guidance new retirees need before undertaking their new life. Each chapter includes a How to Flip This Switch section with suggested action steps. Nationally known speaker, author, and Certified Financial Planner ® Dr. Barbara O'Neill will help you develop a plan to become your best future self.

What is Your Zone of Genius? with Lisa Crilley Mallis

Every week it's my goal to share a story of someone's journey through their life and financial vineyard. We take you from their roots to the journey of their vines and the influences in the air that have helped craft their delicious lives. Like wine, life and finances have different palettes that should be celebrated and not judged.

We welcome you to this edition of Wine and Dime where we speak with Lisa Crilley Malice.

Lisa is a time strategist and lord knows we all need more time in our day! What we didn't talk about in the podcast and have in the show notes, is that Lisa is going to be releasing her own podcast called “The 25th Hour”, with the idea that we all need that extra hour every day, and how do we come up with it!

We hope you enjoy this show and just remember life is about events supported by your dollars and cents. So, sit back, grab your favorite beverage and find your “zone of genius”!

Lisa.jpg

Lisa Crilley Mallis

Lisa is the owner of Impactive Strategies, she is a time strategist, recognized for providing practical solutions to everyday productivity challenges. A certified coach, trainer, and facilitator, Lisa works with financial advisors and their teams who are working hard to succeed and still want to achieve more. She knows that “one size fits all” does not apply when it comes to getting the most out of your day with ease. Using her fifteen years in education, a master’s degree from Ursuline College, and multiple coaching certifications, Lisa supports clients with customized tools to achieve more while working less.

Lisa believes in two solid life lessons:

Life lesson 1 - Just because you are good at it doesn’t mean that is what you are meant to do.

Life lesson 2 - if it is easy for you, it isn’t easy for everyone.

Lisa’s Process

  • What do you really want to do - what is their zone of genius?

  • What is it that you don’t want?

  • Building your day around your strengths

  • Implementation of a habit - putting the structure in your day to create success

  • How to grow your business through the right delegation (six levels of delegation)

  • According to Robert B. Maddux (in Delegating for Results), you can delegate to an employee or volunteer using 6 different levels.

  • Level I – Look into the situation, get all the facts and report back for instructions.

  • Level II – Identify the problem, determine several solutions and the pros and cons of each, recommend one for approval and wait for instructions.

  • Level III – Examine the matter, send word on what you intend to do, take no action until you get the go ahead.

  • Level IV – Decide on a strategy, send word of what it is, and take action unless you hear otherwise.

  • Level V – Take action on this matter and report back on what you did and how it turned out.

  • Level VI – Take action, no further communication is necessary. The assumption is that it’s been handled.

Ice Wine.png

Winner of the 2017 Jefferson Cup for Dessert Wines!

Best Ice Wine, 2018 New York Wine ClassicHarvested in the deep of winter and pressed from grapes frozen on the vine, this genuine ice wine is a genuinely rare treat. It is filled with flavors of rich honey, sweet apricot and exotic fruit flavors. Delicious with a range of desserts. Absolutely wonderful all on its own.

Hunt Country Vineyards is the oldest continuous producer of ice wine in the United States; we produced our first batch of ice wine in 1987. Crafted in the tradition of a German “eis wine”, the Vidal grapes are left on the vines deep into the winter. We wait for the fruit to freeze solid and then early one morning — before the temperature rises above 15° F in the vineyards — we pick the grapes by hand. The frozen grapes are then pressed for many hours to get a small quantity of intensely flavored juice which concentrates sweetness, flavors and acidity. The resulting wine is deep gold in color and filled with flavors of rich honey, sweet apricot and exotic fruit.

Life Goes On Financial Road Map with Nancy Juetten

Nancy grew up in the shadows of her family limelight, as the daughter of an actor.  She didn’t necessarily realize it, but she was seeking her own individual recognition (don’t miss the “how many likes does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop!).

She became a publicist focused on helping other people get recognized, until the great recession, this challenge forced her (or should I say dared her) to pivot and use those skills at an even grander level and she created a book about how to change bio’s (Bye-Bye Boring Bio Workbook).

This was just the launching pad, including her Life Goes On Road Trip organization program that makes organizing your finances a bit like a treasure hunt, adding an element of fun.

Nancy Juetten

Nancy Juetten guides families to organize their personal financial information and crucial documents before something random or crazy can stop them.  The co-creator of the Life Goes On Roadmap® system for personal financial information organization, Nancy is on a mission to touch and transform a million lives by guiding them to take one of 16 essential road stops, one 20 minute segment at a time.  This brings power, access and control when the moments matter the most and makes dealing with a bump in the road just a little bit softer for all. Nancy writes a column for the popular Sixty and Me blog site that serves 500,000 women aged 60 and better. Her system is sold individually to homeowners, downsizers, and families across the country from the website, and professional service providers can license and co-brand the system to share with their most valuable clients. She has addressed appreciative audiences at the Garrett Planning Network Annual Retreat, virtual women’s groups, and podcasts such as the Legacy Cafe Podcast, the Conscious Caregiver, and now – Wine and Dime

Before starting Life Goes On Roadmap in 2018, Nancy launched and grew a successful business coaching practice to guide experts, authors, and speakers to get known and get paid for their expert status by getting ready for opportunity first. In 2009, she  wrote the popular Bye-Bye Boring Bio Workbook that is still a go-to source to guide users to transform their boring bios from wallpaper to wow to attract clients now.  When life hit the fan for her – with a home burglary, a move to a new city, her mom’s diagnosis with dementia, and her husband suffering a mini-stroke in the middle of the night -- Nancy’s preparation for real life paid off with less drama, trauma, and chaos in the clutch moments. With Life Goes On Roadmap®, she guides her clients to welcome those priceless benefits that are more relevant than ever in the era of the COVID 19 Pandemic. Nancy is quick to say that keeping your head in the sand is a dis-empowering place to stand. The best time to get your act together is right now.

Coaching for the New Modern Family with Terri DeCoster

Terri_headshot copy.jpg

Terri DeCoster

Terri is a Master in Counseling Psychology, Family Mediator, Coach, and Facilitator specializing in supporting families in transition, in-person or online. As a certified IPEC and Better Apart coach, Terri guides individuals facing stressful family changes caused by separation, divorce, and re-partnering to a place of ease and harmony through co-parent education, conflict management, and communication skills. Terri is a presenter at the Kids First Center and Maine Divorce Workshops.

Terri has attained her Master in Counseling Psychology, Coaching Certificate from iPEC, and Certificate in Family Mediation and has applied this to her calling to support families in transition.  She didn’t grow up in a hallmark card family by any means.  At a young age, Terri was a child of divorced parents, and the divorce was not “friendly.”  Her mom and brother left the household with just the things they could fit in the car.

This childhood experience left a lifetime impression on Terri and she utilized her skills to help other families have a healthier co-parenting experience during and after divorce, with special attention to the experience of the child.

She also has a passion to help others in blended families (or new modern family) through step-family coaching and her volunteer work at the Kid’s First Center.

The Sorceress - Sleight Of Hand.JPG

The 2017 Sorceress is 100% Grenache from two truly spectacular vineyards. It is 68% from Upland Vineyard and 32% from French Creek Vineyard. This vintage of the Sorceress was aged for 16 months in all French oak barrels (mostly puncheons). The wine saw mostly neutral oak (only about 20% new French oak), and the final blend includes about 45% whole cluster, foot-stomped bunches. The resulting wine is exotic and aromatic. It presents with classic Grenache notes of garrigue, allspice, dark cherries, tobacco, and strawberries; all of which is backed up by fresh acidity, and a long, lingering finish highlighting the refined tannins and brightness of this great wine. This vintage is age-worthy and will continue to develop over the next decade.

Our Feature - Prejean - Cab Franc

Aromas of berry and plum and a warm, lingering finish. A great addition to hearty dishes.

prejean-cabernet.png

At Prejean Winery, we honor the tradition of winemaking that has been handed down for almost a thousand years. Prejean Winery grows grape varieties that originated in Europe; such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Chardonnay. Our Gewurztraminer, planted in 1979, is a mouthful in more ways than one. It is grown in the Alsace region of France. Riesling, also grown in France, but known predominantly in Germany, is now the Finger Lakes’ signature grape variety. Our Dry Riesling has just won the Double Gold Winner in the 2019 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. At Prejean Winery, we honor the tradition of winemaking that has been handed down for almost a thousand years.
