Treleaven Wines

Family Owned and Operated, Since 1984 Separator Image Our story begins with our founders Pete and Tacie Saltonstall. They wanted to start a winery inspired by the Burgundian ideal of a small family domaine that handles all the growing and producing of its own wines. A soup to nuts approach that lets us consider and control each part and process that our vines, grapes, and wines go through. When they started planting the vineyard their kids rode along in the tractor, or sat in a carrier placed in the shade to oversee the proceedings. Now those same children have grown up and added their own pages to the Treleaven story. In addition to our meticulous approach to farming and winemaking, Lev and Hattie have reimagined what a winery experience is like for our guests. In the same way that the Saltonstalls grew up as a family in the winery, scrambling around barrels and hiding under tanks, Treleaven is dedicated to making our guests feel at ease; not simply welcomed but welcomed home. Bring to us your laughter, and children, and memories, and allow us to become the backdrop of your life. Be it in the Hangtime outside listening to a band, in our traditional tasting room learning more about the wines, or in the Oak Lounge having a bite to eat and a local craft beer, come and join the family.

Malbec - Thirsty Owl Wine Company

Malbec - An exceptionally rare find in the Finger Lakes. Estate grown fruit with hints of clove and nutmeg. Barrel aged for 15 months.

Malbec wine is known for its deep purple color and full body. Malbec grapes are small and dark in color with very thick skins, producing a wine that has rich fruity flavors and medium tannin levels. Malbec wines are often higher in alcohol than Merlot or Pinot Noir. Some bottles contain up to 15% ABV, so watch out for this boozy bottle if you’re trying to cut down on your alcohol intake. Malbec grapes are fussy and can be difficult to grow, so they’re grown in much smaller quantities than other more popular red wines. Malbec grapes do well in sunny climates that also have cold nights. High elevation spots are perfect, like the Mendoza wine region nestled in the foothills of the Andes in Argentina. In Bordeaux, France, Malbec is a popular blending grape. It’s often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Gamay to make Bordeaux blends.

Song Hill Winery

Song Hill Farm was the home of Song Hill Thoroughbreds and H. James Bond Racing Stable for 25 years. In 2005 the horses moved to Mechanicville, NY and in 2009 we began converting some of the pastureland into vineyard. This year we planted 100 more vines and we plan to add more in the years to come. We received our Farm Winery license in the summer of 2013 and that fall marked our first full harvest.

Money Empower with Barbara Huson

200! When I started the show, I thought it would be fun to bring my two favorite passions together - Wine and Finance. Everyone's journey in life is different, just like everyone has different palettes for wine - both should be celebrated and not judged. This week’s guest could not have been a better fit to help us celebrate our 200th episode as she is the essence of why I started this podcast. Join us for this podcast and learn about Barbara's riches to rags to riches story.

Barbara is a Mentor and a Coach and is "The Leading Authority on Women, Wealth & Power". Barabara joins us this week to share her amazing story about how she had wealth, lost wealth, and had to rebuild her wealth. That started her on a journey you will never forget, as she reveals her financial lessons with other women in all walks of life. You're definitely going to want to tune into this one!

About Barbara

I want to teach you the secret wisdom of creating wealth and asserting power, as a woman… wisdom which took me over 40 years to figure out.

I grew up relying on my father (the “R” of H&R Block), then my husband, to manage my inheritance. But early in my marriage, I found out my husband was a compulsive gambler. And here’s the insane part — I continued to let him handle all our finances because that’s how scared and intimidated I was by money.

That didn’t change until a devastating financial crisis became a personal wake-up call. I got tax bills for over $1m for illegal deals my ex got us in. He’d left the country. I didn’t have anywhere close to $1m. And my father wouldn’t lend me the money. I had three daughters — one just a baby, and I was not going to raise them on the street. That’s when I knew I had to get smart. And I did.

I share my journey to financial independence in hopes of inspiring, and even better, motivating YOU to become smart (or smarter) with money… and earn more than you’re making now. It’s much simpler and more in your control than you may realize.

Our Chardonnay is a great balance of bright citrus and honey with a touch of oak character and hints of juicy peach. Crafted with care so that no single flavor overpowers another, this wine is simply delicious.
