CEO - YWCA Elmira

Like the majority of people in Elmira, I spent my youth in the YWCA pool and am now excited to be part of the team responsible for its future.  We are proud to be part of a national organization that has been on the forefront of the most critical social movements for more than 150 years— from women’s empowerment and civil rights, to affordable housing and pay equity, to violence prevention and health care.

In Elmira we have been supporting and empowering women and families for over 125 years with quality and affordable child care, women's health services, recreation and fitness classes, and education in a variety of areas.

This year we have realigned, revamped, and revitalized our services and facilities but our purpose has never changed - to serve our community in as many ways as possible.  We are proud to live here and have the opportunity to serve you, our family and friends.

As we continue to evolve and grow we invite you to participate whether it be membership, attending events, using our services, donating, or just stopping by to see our changes.

Thanks for your continued support of this amazing organization!

YWCA of Elmira

WHO WE ARE

The YWCA has been serving our community for over 125 years. In 1887, a home was established for young women leaving farms to work in industry. Since then, the YW’s programs have grown and evolved to meet community needs.

OUR YOUTH

We are the largest child care provider in Chemung County, offering quality care for pre-school through 6th grade. Our Kids World & Summer Enrichment programs serve over 700 children daily after school and holidays at 17 sites. Our Youth Leading the Way programming offers your middle and high school student after school programs and activities to keep them safe and involved while you work.

YOUR HEALTH

The YWCA’s Women’s Breast Health program has a certified “fitter” in our Pink Boutique who can fit a breast cancer patient properly with a quality prostheses, mastectomy bra and swimwear. They are also happy to fit any woman properly for any bra or swimwear. We provide breast surgery patients with a FREE post-operative camisole. We provide some emergency funding for breast cancer survivors.

YOUR WELLNESS

Our Water, Fitness & Recreation program has a heated pool, gym and health resources for you. We will teach your children how to swim.  We offer affordable and fun community swim times for families and groups.  We help you after you have had surgery or suffer from arthritis with our rehabilitative therapy aqua classes.  You can take an Aqua-Dance, Karate or Silver Foxes class.
