Nancy Williamson
In this episode of Wine and Dime I chat with Nancy Williamson. We chat about the procees of buying a car and some of the things you can do to get the best deal. It was a very informative episode and I think you will find her expertise valuable the next time you go buy that shiny new red car!
Nancy became CEO for ServU Credit Union at the age of 25 and has worked at the credit union for more than 40 years. She started at the credit union in 1973 when the credit union’s assets totaled $500,000 with two part-time employees. Today ServU has greater than $265 million in assets with 108 employees and seven branch offices.
With her “free” time, Nancy volunteers for the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Program of the IRS), preparing income tax for low/medium income families annually. She has been actively involved in numerous speaking engagements across the state informing the public on financial protection and fraud prevention. She has also served on a number of nonprofit boards, including Family Services Society of Corning and the Corning Community College Development Foundation.
Nancy is married to Paul and has two sons, Mark and Scott. She will say she is known to have held many titles: CEO, treasurer, volunteer, speaker, friend, wife, mother... with her most cherished title that of “Grandma.”
About
ServU Federal Credit Union is a full service financial alternative to a bank. As a member owned financial cooperative, credit unions are not-for-profit. They function to serve their membership. As a result, credit unions are able to pay back higher dividends on savings and charge lower interest on loans. Money that is made by the credit union after overhead is returned to the members as dividends and other financial services. The Credit Union is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors. These Board members are elected each year by the credit union membership.
Today over 35,000 people in Steuben, Schuyler, Yates and Allegany counties enjoy the benefits of ServU Credit Union membership. We invite you to join these members today - see how you can join!
